Pray, Inspire, Encourage

Did you know that part of my role as children’s and youth worker at Newhaven Church is to support our local churches in the Greater Leith Area in their commitment to working with children, youth, and families? With this hat on, may I invite you to our first Pray, Inspire, Encourage on Saturday 9th November from 12:30pm-2:30pm at North Fort Café. This month we will eat lunch together; pray together; look at what it means for our faith community to ‘grow young’; and think about how we make the most out the season of Advent.  All FREE! RSVP required by Wednesday 6th November to Cassie.Abousamak@gmail.comPIE_Main_

Sunday Connections_ 03.02.2018

The astute among you may have picked up that we missed out a week of Sunday Connections. My apologies for this as it was quite a full week. On Sunday, we looked at Esther in our all age service. We will have a short Sunday Connection this week below.

Two video retellings of the story of Esther can be found HERE and HERE

To Think Together: Esther was a women of courage, who had to trust in God to bring her through a scary situation. What does it look like to be a person of courage as a Christian in 2019 in Scotland? How about in Iran or North Korea?

Word Wall: Across the week, think of some positive attributes about your children and teens, add these to there door or other place they will see on post it notes. What were Esther’s positive attributes? Thank God for the way he has made each and every one of us.

Please find this week’s Sunday Connections below. This will be our last one for 2018! I hope that amongst the last few weeks  of Advent everyone has found some inspiration and encouragement in celebrating the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ this year. I hope to see you at one of our Christmas services this year! Christmas Services 2018

Merry Christmas,

Cassie

A big welcome to our new Youth and Children’s worker!

We are very pleased that Cassie Abousamak will be joining us as our Youth and Children’s worker at the end of April.  This is a joint appointment with Scripture Union Scotland and she will also be working in the Schools of north east Edinburgh.  Cassie is from the United States but she has also done a post graduate degree in Edinburgh and worked for a period as a trainee instructor at the SU centre at Lendrickmuir. While in Edinburgh she worshipped at St Paul’s and St George’s where she was a volunteer Youth leader.  She should be arriving in Edinburgh mid April and will start work at the end of April.
