Sermon on Friendship and Kindness – January 2020

“I’m so small’ said the mole. ‘Yes,’ said the boy, ‘but you make a huge difference”

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

Reading:

Mark 10: 35-45

In this sermon, our Minister, Peter, looked at gospel stories and snippets from ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’ illustrated and written by Charlie Mackesy to explore the importance of friendship, kindness and love. He talks about compassion, the temptation of comparing yourself to others and how small acts of kindness, as simple as giving someone in need a hug, can make such a difference. He touches on the gospel story of Zacchaeus the tax collector, the Request of James and John and some of the many passages that show Jesus’ acts of love.
